NBD - Week 10 Review C

As the league debates the merits of draft pick trading and we all sit on tenterhooks awaiting any last-minute trade blockbusters, we complete our look back on the week that was.
Woody's Warriors (118) defeat Who Gonna Check Me Boo? (104)
 All streaks must come to an end, and this week saw the termination of a five-game win streak for Colly's Boo-Checkers. It's not as though Joe's squad had a bad week; they out-scored all but three of the league's teams. It's just that one of those happened to be his opponent, Woody. The Warriors were strong across the board this week, with the only truly lame performance coming from the usually reliable Pittsburgh D (3). Otherwise, though, it was pretty much straight double-figures for the rest of the line-up. Brandon Marshall (26) and Donovan McNabb (25) were the top Warriors, but they wouldn't have been able to win it without the contributions of Thomas Jones and Steve Breaston (14 apiece). Michael Turner (11) turned in a decent effort, but left in the third with a high ankle sprain. The prognosis for Turner has been decidedly vague, but if this injury lingers it could mean trouble for Sherwood, who's fighting hard to grab a playoff spot. Colly is probably a lock for the post-season, but he's going to need his receivers Marques Colston (0) and Miles Austin (2) back on track if he plans on doing any damage there. After all, his quarterback (Matt Ryan, 11) is pretty mediocre, and he lost Owen Daniels for the season. He can't win a title on running backs alone, can he? Oh wait, his running backs are Chris Johnson (35) and Maurice Jones-Drew (21), the #1 and #2 RBs in fantasy. He can totally win that way. Fuck.

Harry Lance Hannibal (108) defeats Wild Stallions (95)
Another high-scoring contest this week occured between Ray and Jon, although it was painfully devoid of the shit-talking we've come to expect from this annual meeting. Perhaps its because both teams were led in scoring by their defenses, which is a little harder to be clever about. Besides Tennessee's 19 and Baltimore's 24, though, there were some other standout performances here. Aaron Rodgers (19) was once again solid for the Stallions, though he did not give Deezer the mid-20-something day he's grown accustomed to. Similarly, Larry Fitzgerald (13) and Mike Sims-Walker (11) were fine, but not as outstanding as in week's past and not outstanding enough to surpass a second straight 100+ output by HLH. This week's victory was the product of a three-headed monster. David Garrard (18) was positively Garrardian in posting a slightly better-than-average 221 passing yards and two touchdowns, one of them rushing (for those keeping track, this marks the 47th time in his career he has posted that exact same line). Frank Gore (19) had another of the outings that would have him amongst the top RBs in fantasy if he weren't so frequently injured. And Ladell Betts (18), who Ray-Ray dropped a pretty penny on last week ($30), came through in a big way for both him and the Redskins. I love Clinton Portis, but I think the physical strain of being a workhorse back and blocking like a lineman for years, combined with the mental and emotional strain of dealing with this bullshit organization, has got him wiped. I would not at all mind if the Skins sat him and his concussion the rest of the season, and see where we're at in training camp 2010. I suspect Ray wouldn't mind either.
