NBD - Week 4 Review C

It was an exciting Wednesday in the NFL, which normally eats shit as far as mid-season moves go, but in the past 24 hours the news broke that Braylon Edwards and Chansi Stuckey were switching places and that Michael Crabtree had finally signed. The Crabtree Drop Alert has been modified accordingly.

Now let's finish up those Week 4 game re-caps (after the jump, of course):

Wild Stallions (107) defeat Kristin's Hills Are Alive (93)
In my preview, I accused both these guys of being awful shitters, and while that may still be true in life, they at least both had good weeks in fantasy. Each team got solid scoring from a variety of players, and in virtually the same spots. Quarterback? 20 for Haller's (Philip Rivers), 22 for DeYoung's (Aaron Rodgers). WR1? 15 for Haller's (Calvin Johnson), 15 for DeYoung's (Brandon Marshall). RB2? 16 for Haller's (Joe Addai), 19 for DeYoung's (Pierre Thomas). RB3? 13 for Haller's (Jerome Harrison), 11 for DeYoung's (Glen Coffee). Virtually identical score sheets, until you come to that perennial X factor: the tight end. And how wonderful that this tight end battle came down to a battle between a Cowboy (Haller's Jason Witten) and a Redskin (DeYoung's Chris Cooley). You can check the final score to figure out who won that battle.

Secondhand Semen (122) defeats I'm at the Pizza Hut (101)
This re-cap would be a lot more fun to write if Elliott's (non-)decision to play a kicker on a bye week had caused his loss to (of all people) Papkin. But alas, he wasn't good enough for that to have mattered, as there wasn't a kicker in the league who would have scored him 21 points last week, the difference between Sam's team and his. It was quite the week for the Secondhanders, as they were nearly the top-scoring team in the league. Ronnie Brown (23) led the way, with the Steel triad (Roethlisberger, 22; Miller, 19; Ward, 11) providing most of the rest of the firepower. It's got to be frustrating owning the Cowboys running backs, with a constantly shifting balance of power and injuries between them, but Sam should have been pleasantly surprised by Marion Barber's 13 this week, considering that going into the game it was presumed that Tashard Choice would be getting most of the work. Elliott's kickerless assemblage made a valiant effort in the loss, especially Week 4 stand-out (Giant) Steve Smith (25). Smith was backed up by Tom Brady (19), Reggie Wayne (13), and Ricky Williams (16), who is - amazingly - a completely legitimate fantasy running back, averaging over 12 points a game.

With that, we have essentially reached the end of the first third of the fantasy season. Oh, how time flies. If I get a chance, I'm going to try to put together some power rankings in the next few days, so that you all realize just how little of a shot you actually have at winning this thing. With the Screen wedding this Saturday evening, I might have a hard time getting Previews & Predictions out, but if you don't see them on Sunday morning, just assume that I would have gotten them all right.
