NBD - Week 4 Review B

Well, it seems that football is a game for the elderly. Not only did Brett Favre lead his team to an undefeated record last night, but our resident old fucks, Michael Toobin and Ray Tarasovic, are similarly undefeated after four weeks of play. I can't wait 'til next year when I turn 30; maybe then I can start winning some fantasy championships!

As always, don't forget about Part A, while Part B write-ups are after the jump.

Bartelby (71) defeats Deuceburger (60)
This game was not high-scoring, but at least it was relatively close and came down to the end, with four players in the Monday Night Football game. Down by three points, Manning needed a big night out of Adrian Peterson to overcome Ray's three-pronged attack of Greg Jennings, Ryan Grant, and Ryan Longwell. Neither Longwell (4) nor Jennings (3), who disappeared as the game wore on, did much, but Ryan Grant's 101 combined yards were more than enough to keep the devil's playthings out in front of Deuceburger. Adrian Peterson seemed content to let Brett Favre be the star of the show and had, by his standards, a very quiet night (10 pts). In the Sunday games, Bartelby was led by David Garrard (27). Garrard was amongst the lowest-ranked players kept in our draft, but he has performed the past three weeks like an elite quarterback, average 21 points a game over that span. With Frank Gore and Willie Parker ailing, Bartelby will need him to continue that level of production to keep his win streak alive.

The Death Panel (101) defeats You Got Got (76)
I'll admit to having been afraid of this match-up. YGG's Chris Johnson and Maurice Jones-Drew were the stars of weeks 2 and 3, respectively, having each dismantled the Texans' run defense, and Colly's third running back, Darren McFadden, was set to take them on in week 4. But somehow, Houston managed to put it together (it helps playing the miserable Raiders) and keep McFadden (0) in check before he suffered a torn meniscus, while Johnson (9) and Jones-Drew (10) had relatively mild days. Meanwhile, on the Death Panel side of things, Matt Forte (20) finally came to life, after three weeks of bust-worthy play. He still looked like me getting beat by Elliott in a beach race on the 60+ yard run where he got chased down from behind, but these being the Lions, he was able to pick up a touchdown later in the game. Ray Rice (15) and Chad Ochocinco (14) also helped out in the Death Panel win, and bye week fill-in Vernon Davis (10) proved himself worthy of the $6 I paid for him last week. You Got Got were led in defeat by Kerry Collins (20), which is the same place he's led Tennessee for four straight games now.

Our sage prognosticator was wrong about this one as i limped again to victory. The much maligned Garrard keeper choice should at least get me the Matt Millen award. I need to limp in again with a much revised lineup due to a brutal bye week. Dare you predict against karma. My word verification is "ravor" which rhymes with "savor". i do.
