BaDoBuKiBro Draft Stats

Whereas there are roughly 10 straight hours of sports programming on TV tonight between the US Open and two Monday Night Football games; and...

Whereas my 21st Century attention span is incapable of simply sitting and enjoying said programming, but instead demands that I be doing something on my laptop at the same time; and...

Whereas the Draft Board still lives in my living room, and will probably take longer to throw out than the box of defective patio chair parts that has been here for the past year...

Therefore let it be known that it was pretty much inevitable that I would spend some time tonight entering our auction results into a spreadsheet, and using that to make some calculations.
I share these with you now:

I averaged the cost for each of our QB1s, RB1s, RB2s, WR1s, WR2s, and TEs. For the purposes of this post, an RB1 is simply the Running Back you spent the most on, and an RB2  is simply the Running Back you spent the second-most on, etc., even if you ended up starting other dudes in Week 1.

Quarterbacks
Average Cost: $26.67
Most Expensive: Aaron Rodgers, $67 (Cody)
Least Expensive: Carson Palmer, $2 (Jong)
Closest to Average: Eli Manning, $20 (Sovic)

Running Back 1s

Average Cost: $46.73
Most Expensive: Ray Rice, $71 (Jong)
Least Expensive: Doug Martin, $25 (Cody)
Closest to Average: Darren McFadden, $48 (Wilson)

Running Back 2s

Average Cost: $25.58
Most Expensive: Chris Johnson, $57 (Bev)
Least Expensive: CJ Spiller, $9 (Souts)
Donald Brown, $9 (Cody)
Closest to Average: Frank Gore, $26 (Wilson)

Wide Receiver 1s

Average Cost: $33.50
Most Expensive: Calvin Johnson, $52 (Wilson)
Least Expensive: Demaryious Thomas, $12 (Souts)
Closest to Average: Julio Jones, $33 (Dekker)

Wide Receiver 2s

Average Cost: $14.92
Most Expensive: AJ Green, $34 (Wilson)
Least Expensive: Sidney Rice, $2 (Bost)
Closest to Average: Percy Harvin, $17 (Jong)

Tight Ends

Average Cost: $15.83
Most Expensive: Jimmy Graham, $39 (Dekker)
Least Expensive: J Gresham, $3 (Souts)
Closest to Average: Jermichael Finley, $15 (Cody)

The question now, of course, is whose strategy will emerge as the best? The folks who spent big on a few positions and filled in the rest with low-cost options? The guys who spread their money across the roster, getting decent talent at every position? The idiot who spent $86 on two quarterbacks, neither of whom did much in Week 1? Only time will tell. As the season wears on, I'll be using my spreadsheet to calculate each guy's Points Per Dollar, and we'll get to see who gets the most bang for their buck and if that is the key to fantasy success. I'm looking forward to a season of nerditry. I hope you are too.
